HIllsborough Republicans want to impress RNC on having Tampa host the 2012 Republican Convention

After being also-rans in the competition to host the Republican National Convention in both 2004 and 2008, local Republican officials really hope that the third time will be the charm - and they may be correct.

With only Salt Lake City and Pheonix as its competition, Tampa will put on its best face later this month as head RNC honcho Michael Steele and friends come to town.  The Hillsborough Republican Party wants to make a good impression, as it's inviting as many as people as possible to show up in Channelside.

This press release has just been issued by Hillsborough County Republican Party Executive Committee Chair Deborah Cox-Roush:

The Hillsborough County Republican Party, in partnership with the Republican Party of Florida and Tampa Bay & Company invite you to a special event at Channelside on Monday, March 29th.

On that day, the Republican National Committee Site Selection Committee and RNC Chairman Michael Steele will be touring the Tampa Bay Area with a visit to Channelside.

We need to show our community pride and support for Tampa Bay to host the Republican National Committee in 2012. Show them that the Tampa Bay Area is ready to welcome the Republican National Convention to our home!

Description: Please bring your own flags and Tampa Bay in 2012 signs will be distributed as we try to bring a piece of Republican history to Tampa Bay.  Also, please tell as many of your friends and contacts as possible about this event and let us know if you can make it and how many people will be bringing with you. Let's pack the house and show that Tampa Bay Supports the 2010 Republican National Convention and welcomes it to our city!
