NYU has been named as one of the United State's eco-enlightened universities (a.k.a: "Cool Schools") by the Sierra Club for the second year in a row. Since it launched it's Sustainability Initiative in 2006, NYU's efforts in reducing carbon emission, have gone above and beyond placing purple recycling bins around campus.
NYU is one of 600 universities that have set a target to reach carbon neutrality through the American College and University President's Climate Commitment (ACUPCC). Some of the actions NYU is taking to achieve this goal include:
