Brick & Mortar debuts on St. Pete's Central Avenue

In Bloom owners Jason Ruhe and Hope Montgomery moved their catering and event planning company from Tampa to downtown St. Pete's Central Avenue, bringing with it a new restaurant and wine bar concept called Brick & Mortar, which opened its doors Wednesday evening.

At 539 Central Ave., the spot operates from 4 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and 4 to 11 Friday and Saturday.

The cooking duo has customized small plates and entrees like brined pork tenderloin and truffled chicken liver pate for their catering clients for around 10 years. Similar to In Bloom, Brick & Mortar offers seasonal dishes that integrate fresh, local ingredients. An array of wines and craft brews complement the food.

Rustic yet refined, the restaurant's tables and wooden bar top were fashioned by Tampa's Built, while Ruhe crafted the back bar and wall of reclaimed pallet wood.
