As Ferguson, MO smoldered in the aftermath of violent riots, more than 50 demonstrators peacefully protested the Michael Brown grand jury decision in St. Pete by commandeering the intersection at Central Avenue and Fifth Street, for about an hour, disrupting noontime traffic, while police officers kept their distance and looked on.
The organizers, the International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement and angry demonstrators chanted, held signs and demanded legal and economic justice for black people, not only in America, but worldwide.
A public forum to address grievances between the African-American community and the St. Petersburg police has been scheduled for Dec. 7 at the Uhuru House at 1245 18th Ave. S.
