It's a light concert night this Sat., April 16. Here's a few highlights.
Elle King with Clear Plastic Masks There’s no way you haven’t heard “Ex's & Oh's,” that big battering pop tune featuring a velvety-voiced vocalist howling about boyfriend mistakes. It’s ear-wormy as hell and I’m pretty sick of hearing it. All. The Time. But Elle King (also an actress and daughter of Rob Schneider) is rising fast and if you dig the material off her 2015 Love Stuff debut (that tune included), catch her now while she’s playing such a relatively small venue. (State Theatre, St. Petersburg)
Devon Allman Band with Sarasota Slim He comes from proven pedigree (his dad is Gregg Allman), but Devon Allman has shown he’s pretty capable, too, fronting a few bands (Honeytribe and his current namesake DAB) as well as slinging guitar in blues rock supergroup Royal Southern Brotherhood alongside singer/percussionist Cyril Neville, vocalist/guitarist Mike Zito, drummer Yonrico Scott, and bassist Charlie Wooton. (Skipper’s Smokehouse, Tampa)
