Nékter Juice Bar is known for its fresh juices and superfood smoothies, but also acai bowls.

Last month, Nékter Juice Bar's grand opening in Valrico discounted 16-ounce fresh juices and superfood smoothies for customers. The Southern California-based modern juice bar franchise is set to do the same during the formal launch of its South Tampa location this weekend.

The new outpost at 4001 W. Kennedy Blvd. will serve up more $1 smoothies and juices from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15. Swag bags also go to the first 50 guests on-site.

Among the five juice bars that Nekter plans to open locally, Tampa is the second. Highlights of its grand opening include free samples, family-friendly entertainment and prizes, as well as other giveaways and discounts ($35 one-day cleanse anyone?).

Twenty percent of the celebration's proceeds benefits Trinity Cafe. The Rotary Club of New Tampa Noon will match the funds that're raised, too.

"At Nékter Juice Bar, we want to provide authentically nutritious and delicious dining options that will help our guests thrive all year long, including the busy holidays," said owner Scott Hileman in a statement. "Now with two Nékter Juice Bars in Tampa, I hope to empower and encourage my friends and neighbors — no matter where they are on the path to wellness — to stop in and learn how easy it is to incorporate essential nutrition into our lives."

Next-door neighbors with Metro Diner, Nékter Tampa operates 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

The franchise's third Bay area location is coming to 3236 Little Road in Trinity. At the moment, there are more than 125 outposts around 13 states.
