Blackout Creations — a St. Petersburg studio, gallery, retail space and tattoo parlor — celebrates its first anniversary with a new show of works inspired by all things Asian. Big Trouble in Little St. Pete showcases the talents of 20 creative individuals from here, there and everywhere. International participants include Rukkit Kuanhawate of Thailand, whose graphic collages feature splashes of vibrant color and culture, Japan illustrator/comic artist Ippei Gyoubu, and UK artist Jules, the latter two responsible for producing characters that are so full of animated purpose that they seem ready to leap from their frames. Local tattoo artists from Redletter 1 and Mean Machine Tattoo reveal their creativity on canvas along with Blackout's own purveyor of skintastic designs and Eric Carlson of West Virginia's Wild Zero Studios. An array of fine and graphic artists complete the diverse lineup. On display through Oct. 13, noon-8 p.m. Tues.-Fri., noon-6 p.m. Mon. and Sat., 19 Martin Luther King Jr. St. S., St. Petersburg, free admission, 727-823-6202, blackout-creations.com.
