New Tunes Day: The Dead Weather, Silicon, The Underachievers & more

A round-up of some fresh songs and videos, plus a look at new albums dropping this Fri., Aug. 28

I have some fresh sounds to share with you and new videos to show you on this 25th day of August. Check 'em below, along with a breakdown of albums coming out this Fri., Aug. 28, and links to full LP streams by Yo La Tengo, Beach House and others, too.

The Dead Weather, "I Feel Love (Every Million Miles)" video
I dig the Dead Weather, and you should, too. The quartet made up of Alison Mosshart (The Thrills), Jack White (White Stripes, Raconteurs), Jack Lawrence (The Raconteurs) and Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age) are finally releasing a third album of pulsing, grinding psychedelic blues and follow-up to 2010's Horehound. This latest single comes with its own ferocious video directed by award-winning duo Ian & Cooper; check it below. Dodge and Burn drops September 25 on Third Man Records, and includes remixes of four previously released "Vault" tracks and eight new songs.

Saux x The Septembers, "Work"
Berlin-by-way-of-Sydney, Australia soul duo The Septembers (Donna Arendse and James Chatburn) collab with Amsterdam based producer Saux on this warm and slinky, single, the result of an impromptu jam session. Sparse instrumentation, lovely velvety masculine-feminine vocal harmonies, and lyrics mourning a broken relationship. Divine.
Silicon, "Burning Sugar" video
Who the hell is Kody Nielson and how have I not heard about him before this date? The producer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/singer is the brother of Ruban Nielson (Unknown Mortal Orchestra), and he co-wrote and co-produced the new UMO album, Multi-Love. Silicon is his solo project and his debut of retro-futuristic electro calling on elements of soul, funk and disco — Personal Computer — drops this Friday via Weird World. First single "God Emoji" is breezy effected grooviness while this latest track has silky high-toned vocals that reach falsetto heights, percussive flourishes and weirdly pscyhedelic-wet basslines that evoke both Stevie Wonder and Thundercat at once. Check out the full album stream here.
The Underachievers, "Chasing Faith x Rain Dance x Allusions" video/film
The Brooklyn hip hop duo (AK The Savior and Issa Gold) are getting ready to issue a sophomore album, Evermore - The Art of Duality (out September 25 on RPM MSC), and just premiered an acid trippy Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas-inspired video that's also a three-part mini-film for the songs "Chasing Faith," "Rain Dance" and "Allusions." The Underachievers hit Orpheum in Ybor City on Halloween — Sat., Oct. 31.   ALBUMS OUT THIS FRIDAY, AUGUST 28
