Next month, Florida will get a healthy dose of the very highest in highbrow art and culture. For three years running, The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota has devoted a week to showcasing the elite in international dance, visual art, music and theater. From Oct. 11-16, the expansive museum will once again play host to the Ringling International Arts Festival.
The tour de force festival features artists, musicians, contemporary dancers and theater performers that have been handpicked by Mikhail Baryshnikov of the Baryshnikov Arts Center of New York. The Russian dancer/master choreographer/Academy Award-nominated actor has made appearances at the festival in the past and is set to attend this year.
With performances, lectures, and events taking place well into the evening, there will be no shortage of artistic stimulation throughout the six-day festivities.
