From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, the annual Tarpon Springs Sister Cities Fundraiser will feature a food showdown, cooking demo and live tunes at Craig Park's Recreation Center. The event is free to attend.
The festival's highlight, the Fila/Dolmades/Yiaprakia/ Stuffed Grape Leaves Competition, will be judged at 3 p.m., and a how-to on making kavourma, a meat dish prepared for sponge fishing trips, is promised as well. Other Greek delicacies will be available for purchase, including some from Tarpon Springs' Sister Cities: Greece's Kalymnos, Symi and Halki, and Larnaca in Cyprus.
Festgoers can also expect dance performances, additional vendors and music from Demetri and the Islanders and Neos Ihos/New Sound, the city's youth bouzouki orchestra.
