Sh*t happened 6/8/15: St. Pete bike share, Stanley Cup, Triple Crown & More

It was a jam-packed weekend, folks. Whether you're into sports, politics, local causes, Florida man or even the Great White Way, there was something to either life your spirits or confirm your general belief in humanity's tendency toward the suck.

FRIDAY, JUNE 5:

After seven hours of debate, Florida State House Republicans shocked absolutely no one by refusing to pass a proposed health care bill offered up by the Senate as a compromise. They coulda met our expectations in seven minutes, but that wouldn't have provided an expensive, wasteful opportunity to shout a lot about nothing, and thusly wouldn't have achieved the minimum requirements to qualify as politics.

St. Pete is reportedly beginning to move toward adopting a bike share program like Tampa's. "That idea is so, so totally St. Pete," said the year 2006.

A 58-year-old Haines City man was arrested and charged with hitting a 43-year-old female jogger with his truck and then unsuccessfully attempting to beat her with a hammer. Authorities called the man's actions extreme, even given the usual level of animosity old, unsuccessful southern men in trucks often display toward women doing something independently.

SATURDAY, JUNE 6:

The Lightning beat the Blackhawks 4-3 in the second game of the Stanley Cup Finals, bringing the series to a tie thus far. Buckhorn may get some of that pizza that's not really a pizza yet!

Fast horse American Pharaoh ran fast, winning the Belmont Stakes, and the first Triple Crown in 37 years. Women in giant hats and dudes in seersucker who inherited fortunes built on slave labor were stoked.

SUNDAY, JUNE 7:

The Tonys happened, but a bunch of challenging, non-commercial fare was lauded and nothing from Disney won any of the major awards, so we just hope you enjoyed Game of Thrones

And finally, the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission says it's chasing down reports of a man seen trying to sell a live shark in front of a Ft. Lauderdale Publix. Aaand we have a new Florida Man trifecta to beat, people.
