Trib rips on Tampa Police, more fireworks at Hillsborough Aviation Authority, and there's a Latino candidate in the House District 58 race:Mitch Perry Report 01.08.10

On Thursday morning, there was much anticipation about the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority's monthly meeting, as a study looking at potential opportunities for Tampa International Airport to pick up more direct nonstop international flights was on the agenda.

That was an interesting discussion, and we will write a more detailed post on that.  But the main drama revolved around media reports this week that airport director Louis Miller had unilaterally decided to demolish a building on airport property.  We have a report on that.

Interestingly, the St. Pete Times editorial page, which fell all over itself in criticizing Board Member Steve Burton and defending Louis Miller after last month's contentious meeting, today has an editorial where they chastise Miller.

Speaking of editorials, we delve into the Tampa Trib's editorial today on the Tampa Police Benevolent Association protesting Linda Saul-Sena and potentially other City Council members for their refusal to approve step pay increases last year.

And lastly, we have a profile on Gil Sanchez, the 3rd Democrat  (along with Janet-Cruz Rifkin and Pat Kemp) running in the special election later this month for House District 58.
