Geek culturists have descended on Seminole for the Mid-Pinellas Comic Con and Maker Con. Features art, merch, guest panels, tech gadgetry, cosplay and more until 5 p.m. at Seminole Community Library, 9200 113th St. 727-394-6917.

A more adult con is also happening, in Tampa, which has its fair share of costumes too. Fetish Con attracts hundreds of curious people of all orientations, ages and size to indulge in activities related to sexual fetishry. Adult movie models, fetish vendors and exhibitors, lectures, workshops and hands-on demonstrations will be presented along with a 24-hour pool party, erotic art show, private dungeon space and exclusive after parties galore. A special Shop Local Second Saturday Art Walk invites art lovers and ‘Burg lovers to support local businesses during August, one of the most challenging off-season months for local commerce. Keep Saint Petersburg Local and the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance are partnering to host the event, KSPL has posted a handy guide to gallery openings on its Facebook homepage. Art lovers in Tampa should head to Tempus Projects for a thought-provoking and intriguing double-header. Take in two adventurous art shows at one convenient location, when Tempus Projects presents Dislocations, Brian Taylor’s second solo show at the gallery, and Bodice Rippers, a solo exhibition of new work by Monica Perez.  After party immediately following the reception at the Mermaid Tavern. Veteran of he classic sketch TV series In Living Color, Tommy Davidson is still on the scene and offers some good show on his own. Don't go into the water — celebrate Shark Week at the Florida Aquarium, where kids can get a $5 discount on a full paid child admission through Aug. 16; just print out and color a shark week mask or glasses (at flaquarium.org) and wear them to the Aquarium.

The groundbreaking Boyhood continues its run at Tampa Theatre, and on Sunday you can see the movie that revolutionized cinematography on the big screen. Tampa Theatre's Summer Movie Classics screens Citizen Kane at 3 p.m.

The Tradewinds takes one for the home team with their Tampa Bay Rays Watch Parties. See away games live right on the beach all season long. A live Rays Radio broadcasting remote will be onsite with Rays announcers handing out free giveaways. Guests are encouraged to bring towels, beach chairs and umbrellas but coolers are prohibited since food and drink will be available for purchase. Free admission.
