IKEA, the Swedish assemble-it-yourself furniture retailer, has recently announced their pledge to use 100% renewable energy in all of their UK stores.
While no date has been set for this goal yet, they've already taken some big steps toward reaching it by installing solar panels on many of their stores — including the addition of 39,000 PVs to its UK stores in the near future — and purchasing wind farms in Denmark, Germany, France, and elsewhere in the UK. More recently, they purchased a wind farm in Huntly, Scotland, that will reportedly cover 30% of their electricity consumption in the UK.
