Hertz is the first car rental company offering EVs and car share program

The Hertz Corporation has just announced that they'll be adding electric vehicles to their rental and car share fleet starting next week in New York City, followed by Washington DC and San Francisco. Their new program, Connect by Hertz, allows users to rent vehicles for a few days or just a few hours and will have both EVs and standard cars available.

Starting in 2011, Hertz will be adding EVs to all of their locations around the globe. The gas-free cars that will first be available will be the Nissan Leaf, Smart EV (a.k.a.: the Smart Car), Mitsubishi i-Miev, Coda Sedan and the Tesla Roadster.
