Comic book enthusiasts all over the nation look forward to the coming of May, as not only does the weather creep towards Human Torch temperatures, but Free Comic Book Day rolls around as well. For 13 lucky years, comic readers have flocked to their local comics retailer and have been rewarded with a slew of fantastic books at the best price going: totally free.

This year, over 50 select titles are going to be given away, including a special Guardians of the Galaxy, Transformers vs. GI Joe, and DC's The New 52: Futures End. Best of the Bay winner for best FCBD experience, Read More Comics in Brandon will once again have artists drawing live, $1 back issues, and 25 percent off all graphic novels, toys and statues.

Orlando-based Coliseum of Comics, the largest comics and collectibles retailer in the Southeast will be opening it's first Tampa store on Free Comic Book Day, becoming the sixth location in the comic retail chain. Coliseum of Comics' Phil Boyle had this to say about the event:

“Every year we give out thousands of comics to fans and people who are about to become fans of the medium. With six stores in the chain, we’re finding new faces coming in every day, and Free Comic Book Day brings in the most new faces all year,” said Boyle. “Free Comic Book Day has been a great outreach to people who may not have experienced comics in their pre-movie format. It’s a great opportunity to come in and see what the next blockbuster will be based on, all for free!”
