After weeks of anticipation, Datz has finally opened Dough, a bakery adjacent to the popular South Tampa dining spot owned by Suzanne and Roger Perry. Dough is baking up fresh bread, pastries, donuts, cupcakes and more. Former Refinery pastry chef Alex Flannery is in the kitchen. The bakery, located at 2602 S. MacDill Ave., celebrated its launch on Mon., April 8 with a spread of goodies. Look for a behind the scenes tour of Dough in next week’s issue of CL. …

Speaking of Datz: Chef Jason Dame announced last week that he was leaving the restaurant to become the new executive chef at Café Dufrain. He will be in charge of a new menu and an entirely new staff. …

Have Gun Will Travel is a band that has more than a local following, their downhome music pulling heartstrings and forcing foot-stomping in the Tampa Bay area and beyond. Now fans can drink in the HGWT goodness with a new beer brewed by Cigar City Brewing.

Rock Brothers Brewing Co. and Cigar City have partnered to release Have Gun Will Travel High Road Ale. The 5.5 percent ABV brew is named after the band’s new tune “High Road,” which is being released on a 7-inch vinyl by Daddy Kool Records. The official release will be Sun., April 28, at the Post Card Inn on St. Pete Beach. …

Eddie V’s Prime Seafood restaurant opened its Tampa location at 4400 W. Boy Scout Blvd., last week. This is the first Florida location for the Texas-based fine dining chain. The menu touts extensive fresh seafood options, plus live jazz and blues seven nights a week. …

Paste Magazine hosted an IPA competition featuring 64 of the country’s best IPA beers. In a blind taste test of 60 pairs of India Pale Ales, Cigar City Brewing’s Jai Alai took down Bell’s Two Hearted Ale. “It was also a match-up of classic IPA style vs. something a little left-of-center, as Jai Alai has an almost mango edge to it, echoing its Florida surroundings,” Paste wrote. “In this instance it was David upsetting Goliath to reach the finals.” …

Restaurant owner Allen Galleano, known for the Avenue and Push Ultra Lounge, is opening Bici Trattoria at 437 Central Avenue. Slated to open in next few weeks, the restaurant will be focused on casual and to-go Italian cuisine. …

The Tampa Bay Times Laura Reiley reported this week that Ceviche in downtown St. Petersburg was temporarily closed on Monday under emergency order by state health inspectors, who had found more than 25 live roaches in the kitchen area. The tapas bar and restaurant was also cited for temperature violations in its storage of pork, salmon, shrimp and calamari. The restaurant worked quickly to address the problems, and reopened in time for Tuesday night's dinner.
