Lettuce with Break Science Is Lettuce the worst jam band name ever? Aren’t jam band names supposed to be a little kooky? Who really cares when the Brooklyn funk outfit is doling out the kind of sonic stank that James Brown is probably dancing in his grave to. The band arrives at State fresh off a stint on the Jam Cruise, and will have good company at this show. Livetronic duo Break Science fuse a love for hip-hop, house, and trippy-ass lights together for a live set that’ll be good enough to consider this a dual-headlining show. Periphery with Nothing More, Wovenwar, Thank You Scientist Aptly named tech-metal act Periphery was originally conceived as a way for musician and producer Misha Mansoor to translate his recordings into live performance. Expect an evening that balances jaw-dropping intricacy with plenty of atmosphere, as well as the kinds of guitar sounds that make you go, “hey, what the hell kind of guitar sound is that?” Metal fans looking for something new, substantial and challenging would do well to come early and stay for the whole bill.
