The big news this morning is a new Public Policy Polling survey that shows that Rick Scott has virtually eclipsed the sizable lead that Charlie Crist has had on him for months. PPP shows Crist up 43-41 percent, with 15 percent undecided. Good news for Democrats with the Attorney General's race though, with Pam Bondi barely edging out either of her potential Democratic challengers. One of those challengers, George Sheldon, released a position paper on the importance of investing in early childhood development.
Lots of other interesting stuff in this new survey, but we'll be fascinated to see how state Democrats deal with this new survey.
The new poll shows Floridians do now support same sex marriage, by a close 47-44 percent margin. Of course a constitutional amendment to allow same-sex marriage would need 60 percent, so gay activists in Florida are going through the courts to get marriage equality. Specifically, six Florida couples filed suit yesterday, as Tiffany Razzano reports.
Come April, Tampa will join the rest of America's biggest cities in having a bike sharing program. Yesterday officials announced the details of Coast Bike Share, which will employ "smart" bikes that drive the costs of implementing the system down considerably.
And some good and bad news for David Jolly in the CD13 race. The bad was a charge by the DCCC who contend that his lobbying firm did considerable work for Pervez Musharraf, the former Pakistani leader who is depicted in a new ad as a "dictator." But his own internal poll shows him building on his lead over Alex Sink in the race.
