New music Tuesday! (August 16)

New releases out this week by Sly Stone, The Cool Kids, Jeff Bridges, Yellow Ostrich & more (w/audio & video)

To make up for last week's lack, this week features a virtual cornucopia of new releases. I have, as per usual, put together the ones you want to know about most below, with audio & video for your listening and viewing pleasure. Click here to check out releases that dropped over the past few months ...

Kyle Andrews, Robot Learn Love (Elephant Lady Records)
His latest full-length release is described as "bedroom pop album if your bedroom happens to be on an escape shuttle hurtling towards an exploding star," a loose concept album that examines themes of modern life — love, heartbreak, hurt, and longing— as experienced through the filter of technology. Listen to "Lazer Tag with Imaginary Friends" below.

Blue October, Any Man In America (Megaforce)

The Bottle Rockets, Not So Loud: An Acoustic Evening With The Bottle Rockets (Bloodshot)

Braid, Closer To Closed EP (Polyvinyl)

Jeff Bridges, Jeff Bridges (Blue Note)

Danny Brown, XXX (Fool's Gold Records)
This album was actually released yesterday...

Canon Blue, Rumspringa (Temporary Residence Limited)
An orchestral pop project by multi-instrumentalist Daniel James.

Case Studies, The World Is Just a Shape to Fill the Night (Sacred Bones)

The Cool Kids, When Fish Ride Bicycles (Green Label)
Bridging the gap between old and new schools styles of hip hop is this Midwestern duo — rappers Antoine "Sir Michael Rocks" Reed and Evan "Chuck Inglish" Ingersoll — who present a debut that features collabs with Travis Barker, Bun B, Ghostface Killah, Mayer Hawthorne and Asher Roth. Check out the video for "Pennies" (along with the rest of this week's new releases) after the jump.
