If there's one thing we humans seem never to lose, it's our thirst for adventure, discovery and, well, the payoff (be it material or abstract) at the end of an arduous journey; from the fountain of youth to space tourism, we love a good "holy grail." Elsewhere, an exhibit at USF's Contemporary Art Museum, rounds up a bevy of artists' quixotic explorations of the quest. Don't miss Patty Chang's seminal "Shangri-La," a video depicting the artist's fantastical road trip through Zhongdian, a rural Chinese town that claimed in 1997 to be the inspiration for James Hilton's 1933 utopian novel, Lost Horizon. (The claim, made in hopes of attracting tourists, set off a wave of copycat declarations by other towns in the region.)
