The world's largest Slip 'n' Slide — psych!

An invitation on Facebook turns out to be a hoax. Don't order tickets through the event page's link.

The Urban Slide revisits a warm weather childhood recreation activity and takes it to the billionth power. The "world's largest waterslide" is touring the country.

The attraction, as announced on Facebook by an undisclosed entity previously, was to be scheduled this weekend somewhere in St. Pete but no location or additional information was provided on the Facebook event page that's been circulating the social networking site. The page has since been updated to say "date to be determined."

We asked The Urban Slide's customer support for details about the event and were told is not happening and that someone else was using their information to announce a false event.

"We have gotten a couple reports of similar Facebook invites, I can tell you however that these were not sent by us," said Andy Stephens, a representative of The Urban Slide. " It appears that we have an imitator using our images to mislead people."

Stephens has yet to respond to questions about the fake invite and we have no confirmation if the link was used to bilk prospective attendees for advance ticket charges. The very same misleading invite URL was edited to provide new information.

Hopefully, the slide will make a splash in the bay area soon. We'll keep you updated on a legit date if it happens.
