Clearwater's final Ironman 70.3: A photographic record

Saturday, Nov. 13, 5 a.m. A field of 1,500-plus athletes awaits the start of the 2010 Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3: 1.2 miles in the water, 56 miles by bike, ending with a 13.1-mile run.

This was the fifth, and last, year of the Ironman World Championship 70.3 to be held in Clearwater, FL. Next year the event will move to its new home in Las Vegas, NV.

This year's Ironman World Championship 70.3 had its first-ever repeat champion, as Germany's Michael Raelert (left) dug in and was able to hold onto his 2009 Ironman title. On the women's side, an impressive performance by Jodie Swallow (photo below) of Great Britain allowed her take the 2010 Women's Ironman title, with wins in the swim, bike and run categories.
