A gourmet market called Bacchus has started taking shape in downtown St. Pete. The specialty store at 124 Second Ave. NE will carry a variety of European goods, including charcuterie and cheese boards, wine, beer, fresh bread, soups, salads and sandwiches.
Foie gras, pâté, fruit preserves and other condiments are planned offerings, too, as are candies.
Billed as “where France meets your palate,” Bacchus gets its name from the Roman god of wine (and agriculture and fertility, apparently). The local Vitale Bros. recently brought the store’s muse to life, in mural form, inside.
“We are almost there,” reads the Dec. 8 update that Bacchus, which will also serve as a venue for private events once the doors open, posted to its Facebook page. “We’ll see you guys soon.”
