Two food events are in store for the region Thursday, and both revolve around celebrated Tampa businesses.

Head to Ybor City's La Segunda Central Bakery, opened in 1915 by Juan Moré, from 9 to 11 a.m. to commemorate the family-owned bakery's centennial anniversary.

While the shop along North 15th Street offers Italian cookies, guava turnovers and sticky buns, its signature items are those hot loaves of Cuban bread with soft interiors.

Mayor Bob Buckhorn and the bakery's Copeland Moré are among the featured speakers. Street and valet parking will be available for guests.

Later, Mise en Place co-owner Maryann Ferenc will present the keynote speech at the Centre Club on Westshore Boulevard's free Business Expo, which kicks off at 4:30 p.m. and is open to the public.

Ferenc established her downtown Tampa staple in 1986 with co-owner and chef Marty Blitz, and she's also the co-founder of the Tampa Independent Business Alliance. She'll discuss the future of Bay area business and more.

Throughout the gathering, hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar will be highlighted. Guests should register in advance by calling the Centre Club.
