CL predicted after John Roberts ruled with the liberal justices on the Supreme Court in favor of "Obamacare," that it would be huge issue in the Florida U.S. Senate race between Connie Mack IV and Bill Nelson.
Why's that?
The threat to getting rid of President Obama's signature domestic achievement could reside in the hands of the U.S. Senate, especially if through reconciliation it only requires 51, and not 60 votes in the U.S. Senate to overturn the law.
The Karl Rove led Super PAC called American Crossroads has spent a lot of money already on the behalf of Congressman Mack in his race to knock out his Democratic incumbent, and today they're back with a new ad.
The ad continues with the GOP narrative that President Obama cut Medicare spending by $716 billion. In fact, as fact checkers and Democrats have countered, the law limits payments to health care providers and insurers to try to reduce the rapid growth of future Medicare spending.
The ad says Senator Nelson was the 60th and deciding vote in passing the health care law. Of course, you could say that about any of the other 59 senators who voted for the law, but that's how politics works. And therefore Mack can try to convince Florida voters who loath the legislation to vote for him if for no other reason to make sure the bill doesn't become entrenched in American law.
