Former Tampa City Council member and Hillsborough County Commissioner Thomas Scott made it official on Wednesday - he's running for Supervisor of Elections in Hillsborough County.
Scott had served in public office in the above two positions from 1996 until last year, when his first term ended and he opted to run for mayor instead of re-election on the City Council. He finished last in a five man field in the race ultimately captured by Bob Buckhorn.
Scott's entry into the race now makes the Democratic primary in August a contested one for the SOE's office.
Craig Latimer, currently the chief of staff to current Supervisor of Elections Earl Lennard, announced his candidacy last July, after Lennard announced he would not run for re-election.
