I've been gushing about Pleasures since catching the Sarasota quartet a few weeks, their dark, experimental pop-noise and tripped-out space rock odyssey sound powered by Sons of Hippies former Katherine Kelly on raging guitar and sweetly biting lead vocals along with synthesizer maestro Greg Ferris, whose support intones get eerie effects in the ominously propulsive "Honeypot Bounce"; video below. We dig the food-sex-dance reference in the song's title, goes nicely with the theme of this week's Food Issue-inspired feature; stay tuned for that. Hear more Pleasures and get tour dates here.
I'd intended on sharing this recent video from St. Pete's own Prosthetic Records-signed post-rock/classical/metal instrumental five-piece Set and Setting, but it got lost in the shuffle. Luckily, I found it. So, enjoy. "Coping" is a heavy burner that rips and soars through its more than seven minutes. The video was directed by Todd White (Toxic Holocaust) at UP Productions with CGI effects provided courtesy of Beeple, and it originally premiered at NOISEY.
