Last month, the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino announced that its celebrity chef restaurant, Grey Salt, is poised to close in February.

According to John Fontana, president of the Seminole Hard Rock, changes to the Tampa hotel and casino's construction and renovation project — underway since June 2016 — have led to the Mediterranean-inspired dining destination's closure.

Grey Salt, the brainchild of celeb chef Marc Murphy that was recognized as one of Hillsborough's "Very Best" restaurants by CL, has been open for a little over a year.

"We are disappointed to announce the closing of Grey Salt," Fontana said in a statement, "but changes to the design of our current expansion project leave us no choice at this time. Chef and Grey Salt creator Marc Murphy and his team have been exceptional partners. We appreciate their hard work and devotion to Grey Salt, and hope our paths cross again in the future."

Also in a statement, Murphy, who owns the Grey Salt brand, said he's looking forward to finding a new location for his restaurant.

The Seminole Hard Rock, whose expansion project includes an additional parking garage, premium gaming area, state-of-the-art poker room and new porte-cochère entrance, still has several food and drink spots to choose from — Council Oak Steaks & Seafood, Hard Rock Cafe and Rise Kitchen & Bakery among them.
