Cream & Sugar Please: Cycle Brewing, St. Petersburg

It’s the signature beer because: The Cycle Brewing American porter is brewed with Mazzaro’s coffee. St. Petersburg beer brewed with St. Petersburg coffee; that’s as local-tastic as it gets.

The mastermind behind it: Head Brewer and owner Doug Dozark started making Cream & Sugar Please while brewing at Peg’s Cantina in Gulfport. The coffee porter with dark chocolate malts has a creamy quality, just like drinking a coffee with cream and sugar, except it’s beer and it’s delicious. Silky and 4.9 percent, this little brew has an incredibly dedicated fan base, especially on rainy afternoons.

Ambience: Cycle Brewing’s no-frills Central Avenue brewery and tasting room is all about the beer. Crowd is a mix of locals, beer lovers, shuffleboard enthusiasts and bike riders. The recently installed indoor bike rack keeps your two-wheel ride safe and in sight. Check out some of the local artwork, including some beautiful wood pieces by Jon Stine.

Don’t miss: Tampa Bay Beer Week kicks off at Cycle Brewing with six days of special barrel-aged beer releases. From March 1-6, Cycle will tap one new key of a different barrel-aged brew every day of the week. Get it while it lasts, which won’t be long.
