Seven people have been killed while riding bikes in Hillsborough County through the first four months of this year; adding fatalities from 2010 and 2011, the total number of cyclists killed comes to 24.
It's not news to those in the Tampa Bay area, as one advocacy group last year ranked the region the country's second most dangerous area for pedestrians.
This Wednesday night in Tampa, bicyclists will gather to mourn for their own.
The Ride of Silence is an international annual event, held every third Wednesday in May since 2003. It's a way for cyclists to ride in a silent procession to honor fellow cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways.
