Do It Today: Guy Davis sings at the Straz and the Darfur/Darfur video installation in St. Pete

The son of actors Ruby Dee and the late Ossie Davis, Guy Davis is a self-taught acoustic bluesman with finger-picking skills who also plays five-string banjo and harmonica, sings in a soulful, velvety tone, and writes songs inspired by his grandparents’ stories of the rural South. Davis is constantly looking for ways to combine his love of music and acting, like in his off-Broadway one-man show, In Bed with the Blues: The Adventures of Fishy Waters, but mostly, he just continues to produce new music and released his 13th studio album, Sweetheart Like You – which includes his take on Bob Dylan’s classic song of the same name – last year. 7:30 p.m. Mon., April 5, Straz Center for the Performing Arts, 1010 N. MacInnes Place, Tampa, $25.50, strazcenter.org.—Leilani Polk
