A couple of notes this morning: first of all, a big thanks to all the folks who attended last night's meeting in Clearwater of the Suncoast Sierra Club - quite a stimulating conversation that I was honored to be invited to be a part of.

And though your humble correspondent is proud (or stupid?) that he's had only two days off in 2010, there probably won't be a MPR early next week, as I'm being sent off to Tallahassee for two days, "on assignment." Actually, there's a reporters conference that I'll be attending, so it may be difficult to issue any blog posts during that time. But if we can throw something up on this page, we will do so.
On to today's news: Rick Scott wants no part of Chris Matthews hosting a gubernatorial debate next month, but considering that the last time the Hardball anchor did one of these things in Florida it was dominated by national issues, maybe Scott should reconsider?
With the possibility of the Republicans winning back the House in 6 1/2 weeks beckoning, the White House and the DNC are starting to target John Boehner, a la campaigns against Newt Gingrich and Nancy Pelosi. Can it work this time?
