During Battle of the Burg(er), eat your way around the Grand Central District

Eleven St. Pete eateries have entered creations into September's Battle of the Burg(er).

Country pâté, pulled pork and a homemade beet and black bean patty are just some of what 11 Grand Central District restaurants have worked into their Battle of the Burg(er) creations.

The fifth annual competition, which started last week in St. Petersburg, allows regionites to eat their way around the district, sampling each participating food spot's entry, through Sept. 30. Tasters will then cast their online People's Choice votes in the burger and vegetarian burger categories. A panel of guest judges will also rate the burgers to award the Judges' Choice.

Community Cafe, Leafy Greens, Love Food Central and Craftsman House Gallery & Cafe are dishing veggie options, while Casita Taqueria, Engine Rose, Punky's Bar & Grill, The Burg Bar & Grill, The Queens Head, Zaytoon Grill and Old Key West Bar & Grill have meat-lovers options available.

Winners will be announced Oct. 3, followed by a trophy presentation at the Grand Central general meeting.
