Across the board, March was a record-breaking month for tourism in Tampa Bay. Visit St. Pete/Clearwater's data reported $9.5 million in collections, which is a 7.25% increase year-over-year.
Visit Tampa Bay credits our local heavy-hitting celebrations like Gasparilla and the Florida Thespians Festival.
“With several major festivals and key conventions, March has always been our strongest month for visitors," Visit Tampa Bay CEO and President Santiago Corrada said in a statement.
In a recent press release, Visit Tampa Bay shared that hotel occupancy for the month averaged 87.5% with revenues exceeded $93.8 million for the month, which correlated into receiving more than $4.3 million in tourist development funds, from overnight stays made by out-of-towners, a 5.6% increase from last March.
With summer around the corner, we'll see what kind of cash our prime beaches bring in. After all, records are made to be broken.
Although snowbirds can be a real pain in the ass, keep giving our local businesses your money. Oh, and drive faster.
