Look, don't sweat it. Coppertail Brewing Co. wants to take that bottle of Big Beer off your hands before the Fourth of July. Why? The Florida-inspired Ybor City microbrewery's Industrial Beer Amnesty Program is back.
The program, which celebrates the indie identity of Coppertail, allows locals to swap a bottle (or can) of industrial beer for a bottle of Independent Pilsner, the brewery's traditional German pilsner. It's simple: Bring an industrial brew — Budweiser or what have you — to the tasting room anytime on Saturday and Sunday and let the tradesies commence. The offer is limited to one can or bottle per person per visit, while supplies last.
"We are not just a craft brewer," said Kent Bailey, president and co-founder of Coppertail, in a statement. "We are a fiercely independent craft brewery. We are free from outside control. We make the day to day decisions, which allows us to brew our beer our way."
Those who aren't in the vicinity of the taproom this weekend can also do an exchange at retailers elsewhere in Tampa — plus St. Petersburg, Orlando and South Florida — throughout July. Check out the program's Facebook event page for a full list of participating places and dates.
Coppertail describes the Independent Pilsner as having "subtle bready notes, a crisp hop character and a clean finish."
