There are just two days left in the Florida Legislature's regular 2012 session, which means there's all kinds of mayhem going on which we won't know about until possibly the Sunday papers, if last year's finale is repeated.
One issue that hadn't received a lot of attention in this year's budget is the $438 million in federal funds that Florida has been granted to deal with Medicaid patients. Of course, because it has to do with President Obama's signature health care reform law, Governor Rick Scott and the Florida House say they don't want it.
It's looking like there will be more than $1 billion of new K-12 education funding included in the budget, a goal that Scott called for before the session began. Isn't it sort of weird for him to congratulate himself for doing so, when he was responsible for more than $1 billion being cut from education the year before?
