Tonight in live music: Machine Gun Kelly at The Ritz Ybor

The aggro rapper repped by Bad Boy/Interscope brings his rapid-fire raps to Tampa Bay

With a nickname earned from his rapid-fire rapping and an aggro-heavy sound that straddles the line between hip-hop and punk rock, Machine Gun Kelly has been riding his come-up since getting discovered by Diddy and signing to Bad Boy/Interscope in 2011. He’s finally finished a sophomore follow-up to 2012 smash debut, Lace Up (which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200) and in addition to more live instrumentation, General Admission features guests by Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, French Montana, Yo Gotti and J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, which produced first single “Till I Die”; its video has more than 12 million views as of this writing. The LP’s release has been delayed, however, and last month, out of frustration and as a sort of an apology to his fans for the wait, MGK dropped Fuck It, a mixtape made up of songs left off the LP, now due out in September. Tue., Aug. 25, 7 p.m. doors, The Ritz Ybor, Ybor City, $30 (all ages).

Check out some media below, including a full stream of Lace Up...we suggest starting there.
