For it's third installment, Tampa's River Rock Music Festival is going to "Put It In the Dumpsta" and welcome Ivan Neveille's Dumpstaphunk to Water Works Park on November 5. All the proceeds are going to charity, too.
Voices for Children announced that the New Orleans funk legends — who packed Kiley Gardens for Gasparilla Music Festival two years ago — would headline the fundraiser. Voices for Children partners with the Guardian ad Litem Program to provide support and advocacy for the abused, neglected and abandoned children in Hillsborough County.
"This is our largest fundraiser of the year," Ronna Kennedy told CL. "We receive no state funds so we rely heavily on the success of this event and the support of our great community."
Kennedy added that Voices for Children hopes to "represent all 3,200 children in the dependency court system with a volunteer guardian to be their voice in court, representing the child’s best interest."
Tickets for the event are on sale and will run you $15. VIP tickets which include special viewing areas, free food and four drink tickets are $85. More information is available at CL's events page. Listen to the origins of our opening sentence below.
Full disclosure: the author of this post was the social media director for Gasparilla Music Festival in 2015 when Dumpstaphunk almost knocked the plumbing completely out of Kiley Gardens.
