Set your sexual inhibitions free and catch the premiere of Three, a web series that offers a brand-new take on the age-old love triangle.
The series held its premiere party earlier this week at The Studio@620 in St. Petersburg, where attendees got a sneak peek of the show. The first three episodes of Three will debut online this Saturday, Oct. 18. Each week following, two additional episodes of the 10-episode season will be released.
Written and directed by Palm Harbor-based filmmaker Lucas Omar (who also stars as Tanner in the series), Three focuses on the relationship of three 20somethings. As two best friends – straight, over-the-top and overly sexual Layla and gay, uptight, bookish Tanner – vie for the attentions of bisexual, laidback Jason, the trio stumbles into a polyamorous relationship.
The series has been “a long time coming,” said Omar. Following an intense fundraising campaign this past spring, it was shot in just three days this summer.
“It should have been four, which was crazy, but we got it all done,” he said, “and I think it’s pretty amazing to be honest. I’m really happy.”
Originally, the series was slated to be five episodes, each episode running between six and eight minutes.
Instead, Omar decided to “break it up into bite-sized pieces.” The show will air in 10 episodes, each running between two and three minutes. It’s easier for viewers to digest this way, he said. “It’s better for YouTube. Nobody has any attention span.”
And he’s already has Season 2 mapped out for months, he said, so he’s hoping to revive the trio for another season.
“It would be a bummer to not have a Season 2,” he said. “But it all depends on if people are into it.”
He added, “This is all a learning process. And it’s on to bigger and better things. This is my first project where I wrote, directed, and acted. So I knew it was going to be stressful. But, wow, it was a lot to do.”
Omar also had his short film Show and Tell shown during the Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.
