The Gaily News: Gulfport approves domestic partnership registry

Last night the Gulfport City Council voted unanimously to pass legislation creating a domestic partnership registry. This makes Gulfport the first city in Pinellas County to create such a registry, which would grant unmarried same-sex and heterosexual couples certain benefits, including hospital visitation rights and the ability to make medical decisions for one another, such as end-of-life decisions, as well as funeral arrangements. St. Petersburg, Clearwater and the county itself all have similar legislation in the works.
