A Night in the Life of Gay Tampa Bay

We did the day already. Bring on the night.

In last year’s Pride Issue, inspired by the One Day theme of St. Pete Pride 2011, we deployed a team of CL photographers across the Bay area to shoot 24 hours, more or less, in the multi-faceted lives of the LGBT community. This year, Pride adopted a more frankly celebratory theme — Carnivale — as if to say our day is here, baby, let’s party!

In that spirit, we didn’t go to City Hall, or law offices, or museums, or any of the other wonderful places gay people are making a living.

We went out. To the bars. And partied. A limo was involved. (Thanks, VIP Tampalimo.com!) And who better to capture the party in photographs but DrunkCameraGuy.com: the inimitable, indefatigable team of Chris Spires and Marci Richter, who joined myself, CL publisher James Howard, CLGBT editor Tiffany Razzano (and the lovely Julie), my partner, Larry Biddle, plus straight-but-not-narrow Shawn Alff and Brian James, to see what we could see on a Friday night in Ybor, South Tampa and St. Pete. (For more information on many of the places mentioned here, see the Za-Gay Guide 2012.)
