Tampa's vintage shops get some love from the New York Times

Three of Tampa's top vintage boutiques — Sherry's YesterDaze Vintage in Seminole Heights, Squaresville Vintage Clothing and Retro Home Decor in SoHo and the godmother of them all, Ybor City's La France — get major play today in a highly complimentary story in the New York Times' travel pages.

So does Tampa itself, for that matter. Vacationing writer Jen A. Miller acknowledges Tampa can be a pass-through city on the way to spring training or Disney World, but recommends tourists take a moment and check out the city's mix of cultures, name-checking Ybor City and Hyde Park and quoting the ever-quotable Florida historian Gary Mormino.

"Yes, Tampa is in Florida," says Miller, "but it’s less stodgy and more eclectic than some of its neighbors. This is not Boca."
