Give BP a more fitting logo in Greenpeace's rebranding competition

Greenpeace isn't impressed at all with BP's rebranding a few years back, claiming they were "beyond petroleum". Even though they claim to be moving beyond oil, it seems that BP is still set on acquiring black gold from the pristine Canadian Wilderness — thus destroying ecosystems and the land of their indigenous people. We here in the Gulf Coast states have seen firsthand the disaster that BP can leave in their wake.

That's why Greenpeace is asking for submissions in their "Beyond the Logo" competition, asking artists (and art novices alike) to come up with a logo "that's more suitable for their dirty business". There are three categories in which to enter: design professionals and design students, the public, and under 18.

The Greenpeace site states:

"The winning logo will be used by us in innovative and exciting ways as part of our international campaign against the oil company. We're after the best ideas and concept, not necessarily the slickest logo. So if you're not a professional designer don't worry. If you're the overall winner we're offering you a day with a top graphic designer to transform your idea into a final product."

Get brainstorming and enter your best design idea. Also, be sure to check out some of the creative logos that have already been submitted. See the contest website for more details. Contest ends on June 28, 2010.
