Ryan Jent - CLGBT Editor

Ryan Jent wasn't sure if he should write this in first person or the third, so I picked both.

Born in Cincinnati and raised in Atlantica, Jent attended the University of Cincinnati as an English major — which is a fancy way of saying I have yet to graduate. I was an English major for one reason: comic book writing wasn't offered.

I decided sometime in the womb I was going to write for Marvel Comics and published my first "comic book" in the fourth grade under the encouragement of Mrs. Adams. (I still have the air balloon-shaped post-it telling me to keep writing. I intend to, and I intend to present it to Marvel's Editor-in-Chief someday.)

I moved to Florida nearly two years ago with my boyfriend, our love and less than a dollar. I still have all three of those things. I've also decided I'll never work in another restaurant. (You do not need another ranch.)

The best advice I've ever been given about writing: the only thing a writer can ask is that his work is read. Not liked, not loved — just read.
