Just in time for the holidays, actually.

South Tampa’s Timpano Italian Chophouse is set to reopen in Hyde Park Village before 2022.

“See you Soon” graphics meet diners on the upscale restaurant’s website, and its Instagram page says the restaurant owned by Tavistock Restaurant Collection is hiring, too.

In an email with Creative Loafing Tampa Bay, Tavistock Brand Marketing Manager Lauren Gustafson confirmed that the restaurant is reopening as Timpano. Though the spot doesn't have a set opening date, Gustanfson added that, “I can say that it will be before the holiday season.”

Tavistock’s only other Timpano, in Ft. Lauderdale, has also been closed since 2020 and is reopening soon.

The Tampa location, at 1601 W Swann Ave. across from Goody Goody, has been closed since the summer of 2020. Tampa’s Citizen Access website shows that non-structural demo was approved for the restaurant's kitchen area in March. Gustanfson told CL the renovations will have Timpano looking fresher than it did when the location closed.

Timpano has been a staple in Hyde Park Village with classic Italian food, steaks and seafood plus weekly live entertainment including regulars Acme Jazz Garage. Gustanfson added that there will probably be live music at Timpano, but could not offer any more details on talent.

Acme Jazz Garage bassist Philip Booth told CL he had no idea whether or not his band—which has been a regular fixture at Timpano since 2012—would be part of the reopening. "We've not heard a peep from them," Booth added.
