Jug & Bottle wants its customers to be able to drink on site. The upscale package store has a special use request in with Tampa City Council, and if approved, the shop—located at 6203 N Florida Ave.—would be able to not only sell you good drink, but let you slurp it on site.
“Aaaaand with that license comes the ok to begin construction on that patio that’ll bring those dine in & seating options y’all have been waiting for,” a Facebook post of 3 Dot Dash said.
In short, if Tampa City Council says, “yeah, go ahead,” then you’ll be able to crack open a cold one or pop a bottle of rosé while you enjoy your Rodeo Buster Impossible burger. Approval would also open Jug & Bottle up for beer tastings (wine & cider tastings are already permitted, because we live in a weird, pseudo-puritan society with weird booze laws).
Jug General Manager Ryan Fouche wouldn’t tell Creative Loafing Tampa Bay how many folks the hypothetical Jug & Bottle patio could accommodate, but we’ll learn more if the request gets approved. And that’s where the community comes in.
Jug & Bottle—which just launched a wine club—has a hearing for its request on Thursday, April 22, at 6 p.m. with the Tampa City Council. If you’d like to participate, in-person or virtually, you must register on the City of Tampa's guv'ment website. The zoning application number is AB2-22-0000004.
The shop opened in 2015 and focuses on craft beers, unique wines and specialty foods–keeping a lot of its product local. That same year it won a Best of the Bay award for Best New Corner Store. It also has the only public bidet we’ve ever had the pleasure of trying.
