If you see a bunch of photographers running around Tampa Bay this Saturday, don’t be surprised. It’s just One Day Tampa Bay returning for its sixth year. I’ve been participating in this annual community photography project ever since I found out about it in 2019.
The rules are simple: you have 24 hours this Saturday, Sept. 18, to document life in the Tampa Bay area. Then you have about a week to choose your 10 favorites and send those JPGs to the Morean Arts Center. All photos taken that day make it into the Morean’s One Day Tampa Bay Flickr album, but some are selected to be in a photo book and a gallery exhibition as well (Dunedin Fine Art Center hosts the gallery exhibition this year).
You don’t have to be a professional photographer to play; amateurs and cell phone photographers are welcome to join. So don’t watch from the sidelines again this year. Sign up and participate.
First time? Check out this YouTube video from The Morean, which explains the project in more detail.
