Better than a night at the moontower.

A half capacity gig from Southern rock founder Marshall Tucker Band happens on Friday in Clearwater. Even if you don’t recognize the name you surely know the hit “Can’t You See,” which has one of the best flute runs in music history—sorry Jethro Tull. The song, like the rest of music the jazz-influenced rock band, makes me want to hop in an El Camino and have a party at the moontower.

Lead singer Doug Gray, the last original member, has a pretty tight relationship with the NRA but just an FYI, guns are not allowed at the Clearwater venue, even if you have a license to carry. ‘90s country band BlackHawk opens the show. Masks are required and there are temperature checks at the door.

The Marshall Tucker Band w/BlackHawk. Friday, April 23, 7:30 p.m. $58.75-$78.75. Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater rutheckerdhall.com
