Ditch the lame gift cards and fruit baskets and buy some local, handcrafted art for your loved ones this holiday season.

The annual Florida Craftart Festival takes place this weekend, at the intersection of Central Avenue and 5th Street in downtown St. Petersburg, from 10 a.m.– 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.– 4 p.m. on Sunday. It’ll be hard to miss the massive sprawl of tents outside of the Florida CraftArt Gallery.

Over 100 local artists——including St. Petersburg Arts Alliance’s in-house artist Teresa Mandala (pictured above)—will work their tents and sling ceramics, jewelry, fiberglass and whatever else constitutes as a craft. Alongside crafts for purchase, there will also be artist demonstrations, food trucks, locally-brewed beers and a kids’ art activity tent at the two-day festival.

The St. Petersburg Arts Alliance—a nonprofit dedicated to raising money and advocating for the local creative community—will be introduce the St. Petersburg Ballet Company, dance collective The Cat’s Meow, as well as singers from The Arts Conservatory for Teens.

Stop by the SPAA tent to learn about their many events and programs throughout St. Petersburg, like their Second Saturday ArtWalk, Funding Futures—a grant program for student artists— and the Arts Business Academy, which provides business training for local artists.
